Your response is soundand you have been creative with your blogs, I particularly like the use of headings with good layout and design.  You have a secure knowledge and understanding of who you want your artist to be signed to; perhaps you could link this further by stressing the advantages that your artist has signed to the particular record label.

Your clearly identify your target audience and have profiled them well, but could develop this with the use of VALS  VALS.  Good research into CD covers and you have a wide range of examples, and this would be developed further if you can link the real product to how it will influence your own designs.

MORE ALBUM COVERS AND SIMILAR SONG SET UPS

similar song idea

thiese images are similar ideas to the image i want however this is presented thisthese are set in the modern era the glamor and bright colours are areas i would like to take from these images however we only want to include an aspect of the colour and make it all about the glamour of the 1920's and contrast it with the ways things are better and worse with society now.

RESEARCH INTO OUR ARTIST

Our artist would be signed to the label that signs techno remix music. The songs that our signed also are probably songs used in club mixes and dj's for example dance trance music and techno swing music. it will be a minor record company Hoxton Whores is a company likely to sign them because of their signed artists are similar to Renee’s song 'Why Don’t You Do'

Our target audience would be a group from the age of early and late teens to mid twenties as well as maybe the older generation wanting to see the new version of a well known song from the 50's set in the 1920's.
However it may not be their taste as it is not an old song any more.

Wednesday 28 September 2011

Before starting to design potential CD covers, I looked into Peggy Lees version of the song and her cover and then the gramophondzie mix version, (the version we have chosen as our song). I started by looking at the original  it didnt really fit our idea's for our video.  The image shows the star off to beautiful woman who is very glamorous. and used to have money. The cover would help attract the target audience. We want to combine the ideas of modern and old so i thought the use of brighter colour was needed more in relation to ours but the coverfitted well with their theme.

POTENTIAL ALBUYM COVER IDEA

Using google images and photoshop i decided to combine the ideas of old and new with colour and black and white which we hope to put in our video

Feedback

There is some good conceptual work on the blog, with a firm concept that is being researcghed.  Your blogging skills are good witha variety of tools used to represent the concept.  Good use of video links.  An area for development is to offer more detailed expalnation to your concepts - these at times seem concise.  Try to apply theoretical idea's and links to real media products.  A strong sense of brand is evident.  Well done.

CLIPS THAT TRANSLATE OUR INITIAL IDEAS

These shots show the idea we want to do with our sillouettes and the old 20's style.

DEVELOPING IDEAS

When i got with my group we discussed my idea and combined it, all of us agreed on the idea of a 1920's feel with a black and white dance to be involved at some point however they thought of songs that were more modern and so we would contrast the two extremes to hopefully create something very unique.

we thought of remixes and came up with some different ideas that could work.
singing in the rain was one of our ideas that we got more ideas from, we wanted to make the most of the song idea and thought we could add water and an umbrella to this black and white 1920's dance, although singing in the rain was made in the 1950's the 20's style we felt could work with the modernized version,

MUSIC VIDEO IDEAS

My image consists of a 1920's feel , with the beautiful traditional class they had back then.

THE COMPOSITION IF THIS MUSIC VIDEO BY RADID HEAD CAUGHT MY EYE AND I THOUGHT TO MIX THIS IDEA OF SILHOUETTE AND THE 20'S WITH A TAP DANCE COULD LOOK VERY INTERESTING

MY VIDEO ANALYSIS

NOT READY TO MAKE NICE
By The Dixie Chicks

This Dixie chicks are a country band popular in America, their whole star persona was that they were beautifully musicians and sexy.  The band formed in 1989 in Texas.

During a London lead vocalist Natalie Maines to say ‘we don’t want this war, this violence, and we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas
These words that she spoke offended so many people that it cost the band half of their fans and audience back in America.
After being marketed as a sweet but sexy innocent lovely country band that sang love songs they had to go for a new approach to win back their publicity. However on a personal issue they believed they had been treated completely wrong, they received hate mail, death threats, radios wouldn’t play them etc. this made them decide to fight back in a different voice, instead of pleading for forgiveness and apologising profusely like their ex audience believed they should do, they wrote a song, that was unlike their others, it was relevant to their situation and because it was so personal the song was filled with meaning and soul that helped create a very good song.
With this song they won
The question of how the group's new record would fare commercially attracted intense media interest.” (All publicity is good publicity)

With this scandal happening many of the other competing country musicians targeted the same audience with patriotic songs with American flags. This helped them seem better to the audience that were so hateful of the Dixie chicks. The lead singer Natalie Maines hated "The entire country may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism. Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country ... I don't see why people care about patriotism”

The video and lyrics all apply to this incident. They use dark black colours and old clothing like school clothing. They use short clips of them looking like there being told what to do and being treated like school girls in the Victorian times to reinforce their words that they shouldn’t be treated like this, they have the right to say whatever they want. They also keep up however their original star persona with them looking classy and strong and sexy.

Using black paint as a symbol of them being “misbehaved” and branded with this guilt on their clothes they helped portray the feelings audience felt about them during their words in a way that makes them seem like they are the strict old teachers in the school. They are asked to do lines on the black board and writing the words, ‘talking without thinking is like shooting without aiming’ the themes are black and red and they are wearing white, symbolising innocence whilst they are covered in black paint, to reinforce the idea of them being innocent and noe turned black, they cant get rid of the black paint, they now have the darkness branded on them.

MUSIC VIDEO ANALYSIS

This is our pop prelim video
The genre of the song made us immiddeitly choose the setting and mood of the video, we had very little time so we decided to keep in simple, with bright lights from beams at interesting angles and a no house light, we put wires all over the floor and madew the set look messy to re-inforse the idea of breaking the rules and not conforming, this fitted with the genre of the song too. This prefrabley would help us make the video more appealing to their audience. As the genre is not mainstream but niche, 'scremo, rocky, loud etc' having a darkly lit but with cool flashing lights and a messy breaking the rules stage reinforses their star persona.

When we began to film we dicovered alot of our shot on our story board would not be as easy as we thought, we were howeer able to change it and ,#make it work on the spot as our thrillers had the same issues, this helped us test our selves under pressure and still put tofgether some good shots even if the story boards didnt match, however we followed mopst of them very closely and we were able to look back at a good quick days filming.

in post we learnt a good technique about how to make all of the shots stay in sync whilst we changed them about, this helped us put on some cool druming bits and the guitar tapping solo without spending hours syncing it together, this is a plus to final cut pro, it was quick and efficient and myself and my group were very pleased with our section of the outcome.
